2009 Tournament Seeds
The 2009 Tournament features 15 teams. Statistically the first five seeds are very strong and then there is a huge drop off. But that is why you line up and play the game. Enjoy the games.

Odds:3-1 Richard and Bob enter their 19th Tournament as the top seed. This will be the 5th time they have been seeded #1 and have managed a respectable 10-7 in this slot. They are by far the toughest team to predict (42-40 record) and have not placed in nine of their nineteen tournaments. Five championships is tough to beat!

Odds:4-1 Ben-Kyle came oh so close of repeating as champs last year only to fall to Richard and Bob twice after winning ten straight matches since 2008. Will they be able to rebound? The historical stats and law of averages say no. Nevertheless we like them at the #2 spot until as they have place in the top three in three of the last four Tournaments.

Odds:4-1 Debbie and Joyce have been a powerhouse team since joining up in 1999. They have placed in seven of ten Tournaments and have won three championships in that span. Last year they finished 3rd and we expect them to playing late into the Tournament once again.

Odds:4-1 Shelly and Beth enter their 21st Tournament as the #4 seed for the fifth time. They have place twice as #4 (3RD & 2ND) in past Tournaments with a 13-8 record. Overall they have placed in 14 Tournaments out of 20 (70%) and we expect them to be in the shuffle still playing at the end. Last year they became the first team to play 100 Rook Tournament games.

Odds:6-1 Sally & Phyllis have a long storied career in the Rook Tournament but have never been the same since coming out of retirement in 2004 compiling just a 5-8 record. They are still a formidable opponent and a strong #5 seed for the second year in a row.

Odds:12-1 From #6 down the success rate drops off dramatically. Luke and Chad have managed a 9-8 record since 2005 finishing 4th twice. We expect them to hang around for awhile but not at the very end.

Odds:20-1 A surprise #7 but have played better than everyone else left over in recent years. Possibly a team on the move.

Odds:20-1 Ashley and Christy have struggled in recent years winning only once out of their last seven matches. Their best Tournament was in 2003 when they finished fourth.

Odds:20-1 Entering their 18th Tournament with a six game losing streak. Third time they have been seeded in the #9 slot which is also their lowest. Have finished second, third, and fourth with the last time placing in 2003 (3rd).

Odds:20-1 Finished 4th in 2004 and have managed only a 2-9 record since then. Placed in 8 of their first 15 Tournaments in the good ol days. It appears the competition has caught up with them.

Odds:25-1 This team just never gets the cards and when they play it looks like someone is filming a "How To Win A Rook Game" documentary featuring the OTHER team. If nothing changes this year James may be looking for a new partner next year.

Made their debut in 2008 and made a quick exit in two games. We expect a much better showing this time around from these two talented players.

Odds:25-1 The #14 seed is a new team this year with tons of Tournament experience. Carlton has 27 Tournament wins in 59 games and was on the 1997 Championship team with Rosemary. Richard had played in 13 Tournaments since 1990 and has 12 wins to his credit. This team could be the sleeper team of 2009 at #14.

Odds:150-1 Richard White III and Kevin Bustle make their Tournament debut this year. They have had some experience in the Children's Tournament and come from good Rook blood lines with their dads. Please make them feel welcome!
