Brian Peacock's recent signing to the Washington Nationals only strengthens their stronghold to repeat as champs. Every champ in the 21st centrury tournaments have gone back to back!
Since losing the 2002 championship Joyce & Debbie have managed just a 1-7 record (defeating a 15th seed). In six tournaments they have managed to make the championship four times and their 5.67 power rating is second only to Sally & Phyllis' 6.18 all time. Will they continue to slump or will they be back in the Finals again? Which team will show up?
Ties their highest seeding ever (2001). Have played the most games (56) without a championship but have a second (2000), a third (2003), and fourth (1996) place finishes to their credit. Their 1.08 power rating ranks them 10th all time.
Always a threat but have only managed a 7-8 record since 2001. The three time champs managed to beat Brian & Scott in an exhibition game this past weekend which can only bolster their confidence heading into the tournament.
The youngest team (29 years of age total between them) ever to place in a Tournament (4th in 2003) looks to bounce back in 2005. Now in their fourth Tournament we expect them to be somewhere in the thick of the battle at the end.
Another team that has quietly established itself with gradual improvement each year. They have knocked off some top teams but have yet to put a string of consistent wins together.
Elizabeth and John are playing in their 10th Tournament together but haven't played together since 2001. They have a couple of big upsets but haven't really done anything substancial. With 11 wins and 29 games under their belt they are our sleeper pick in the Tournament.
Have just six wins in nine tournaments but have a 3-3 record in last two Tournaments. Highest seed ever defeated was #9 Christie-Ashley in 2003. All this team needs is to knock off a top 5 team to make a jump to the next level.
We welcome Perrin to the family and to the Beach House Rook Tournament. This is probably one of the most impressive rookie teams we have seen in awhile at least on paper. Unfortunately, you still have to play the game.
