2008 Tournament News

Historic Game To Take Place
A huge milestone will take place this year as Shelly & Beth will play their 100th Rook Tournament game. They both enter the 19th annual tournament with 98 games followed by Joyce with 93. Quite an impressive feat especially if you have to play them. Congratulations ladies!

Ben-Kyle Repeat Is A Strong Possibility
Looking over the stats shows Ben-Kyle can possibly join Sally-Phyllis(88-89), Richard-Bob (93-94), Joyce-Debbie(2001-02), and Brian-Scott (03-04) as the fifth team ever to win back to back Rook Tournament Championships.

Pros:
1) Placed in 2 of last 3 Tournaments
2) Placed in 3 of last 6 Tournaments
3) 11-4 record in last 3 Tournaments
4) Play consistent year in and year out
5) Brian Peacock is playing baseball which means Brian-Scott team will not be playing this year.
6) 9th Tournament together

Cons:
1) Richard White is back from Italy which means four time champs Richard-Bob will be in the Tournament.
2) Four teams that have won prior Tournaments have never won it again.
3) Never been seeded higher than 5th

We will just have to wait and see!

Auto Registration Should Simplify Signup
In an effort to make signing up easier for regular participants, eleven teams are automatically signed up and only have to indicate on the signup sheet if they are not playing. If your team would like to be added to the list just email the Tournament Director.

Fireworks No Rook Yes!
The Chiles Group Restaurants (Mar Vista, Sandbar, and Beach House) will not be shooting fireworks off at their Sandbar Restaurant this year on the 4th of July but have agreed to sponsor our Tournament again in 2008. We thank them for their support!
