Peacock To Miss Second Straight Tournament

Two time rook champ Brian Peacock will miss his second straight tournament due to professional baseball obligations. Brian currently is playing catcher for the Class A Savannah Sand Gnats which is a Washington National minor league team..

Tournament Participation Could Be Down
Due to several family members from the Henson household not attending the Beach House this summer, we could see a drop in the number of team participating. Since 1995 the Tournament has had at least 14 team participate with a record 21 in 2004. The lowest number of teams to participate was 9 in 1989.
 
Chiles Group To Sponsor Tournament Again
The Chiles Group Restaurants will once again be sponsoring our Tournament for the fourth time. The Chiles Group has three restaurants on Anna Maria Island : The Sand Bar in Anna Maria, The Beach House in Bradenton Beach, and Mar Vista in Longboat Key.
 
Interesting Statistics Gathered Over The Years

  • Of the past 17 champions, there has never been a winner below a #7 seed.
  • Of the past 17 runners up, they have all been the #8 seed or better.
  • The #6 seed has never won a championship nor finished as runnerup.
  • 15 of the 17 third place winners have been seeds #2 thru #7. #1 seed has never finished third.
  • All of the fourth places finished have been seeds #1 thru #10. #5 has never finished in 4th place.
  • The top five seeds have won 60% of all their games except seed #2 with 59.7%
  • The top seed has won 5 of 17 Tournaments
